Can you park hop at Disney World and Universal in the same day?
How park hopping works at Disney World
Disney's park hopper option is an add-on to your ticket. It allows you to visit more than one Disney theme park on the same day. However, you must first visit the park you made a Disney Park Pass reservation for (if required), and then you can hop to another park after 2 PM (subject to change).
Park hopping is subject to capacity limits. During busy times, hopping may be restricted. Also, you need a park hopper ticket for each day you want to hop. It's not automatically included with base tickets.
- Add-on to base ticket
- Must visit reserved park first (if reservations required)
- Hopping typically allowed after 2 PM
- Subject to capacity
How park hopping works at Universal Orlando
Universal's equivalent is the park-to-park ticket, which allows you to visit both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure on the same day. This is required if you want to ride the Hogwarts Express, which connects the two parks. You can hop anytime during park hours.
Volcano Bay is a separate water park and requires a separate ticket or a three-park ticket if you want to include it. Park-to-park tickets are date-based and cost more than single-park tickets.
- Park-to-park ticket for both theme parks
- Required for Hogwarts Express
- Can hop anytime
- Volcano Bay requires separate ticket
Can you hop between Disney and Universal in one day?
No, you cannot use a Disney ticket to enter Universal or vice versa. They are separate resorts with separate tickets. If you want to visit both on the same day, you would need to buy a one-day ticket for each resort, which is expensive and time-consuming due to travel between them.
It's generally not recommended to try to visit both Disney and Universal in one day. The parks are about 10-15 miles apart, and you'd spend a lot of time commuting and little time enjoying attractions. Instead, dedicate separate days to each resort.
- Separate tickets required
- Travel time: 20-30 minutes by car
- Not recommended for one day
- Better to split days
Common mistakes
- Thinking a Disney park hopper works at Universal; it doesn't.
- Forgetting that Disney park hopping may not start until 2 PM and requires a park reservation.
- Underestimating travel time between Disney and Universal; it can take 30+ minutes with traffic.
